During a White House press briefing on Monday, tensions flared when a reporter accused Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre of disrespecting the First Amendment by neglecting to address his questions for several months.
Simon Ateba, the Chief White House Correspondent for Today News Africa, grew increasingly agitated and began shouting at Jean-Pierre while she stood at the podium. The briefing was attended by the cast of "Ted Lasso," including Jason Sudeikis and Hannah Waddingham, who were there to discuss mental health.
Ateba berated Jean-Pierre, saying that her behavior was akin to the censorship practiced in countries like China and Russia. He expressed his frustration at being ignored for seven months, stating that it was a violation of his rights.
Despite his protests, Jean-Pierre refused to engage with Ateba and reiterated that she would not allow the briefing to devolve into a shouting match.
